Good mornin to you my friend. I hope that what you read here will be helpful to your understanding of eternal matters.

The following scripture may be the basis for people’s conclusion that going to hell means that condemned people are separated from God:

2 Thessalonians 1.7-9

7 “And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;”

However the usage of the word “from” in that verse doesn’t necessarily mean “away from.” Because that word used there is Strong’s Greek word # 575. Which can mean either “away from,” or, “of an origin of a cause.”
Here’s one example of that same Greek word (# 575) used as meaning of an origin of a cause:

Matthew 1:17 “So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations…”

But if you’re still a little unsure about the matter, Revelation 14.10 will eliminate any remaining confusion that you may have about this issue:

Revelation 14.9-11

9 “And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,

10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.”

people in hell are punished in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ, (God).

All glory to the risen Lord Jesus Christ, and no glory to us whatsoever!
