I was wrong & I repent

Beware of all “isms”!

This post is mainly aimed at warning you about calvinism, but you should avoid all “isms.” Every single one of them are heretical.
(calvinism, arminianism, dispensationalism,
preterism, universalism, & pentecostalism).

So let’s begin shall we?

I’m writing this post because I love Jesus Christ, and I want to help my friends by reflecting the light that God has given me. And one of the ways that I reflect that light is by sharing with you the mistakes that I’ve made in my walk-of-faith.

I’ll begin by stating that scripture definitely teaches God’s election, and that His children can never be lost.
I reject arminianism just as much as I reject calvinism. (They’re both garbage).

However just the fact that God has His elect, doesn’t negate the fact that Jesus died for all, and man’s will is involved in salvation. (Which I’ll prove with scripture later in this post).

I realize that it’s hard to understand how those realities mesh together. But we don’t know everything, and we get into trouble when we try to harmonize that tension in scripture. [Which is the basis for heretical systematic theologies like calvinism].

(Isn’t it more respectful to God to concede that we don’t understand certain paradoxes in scripture rather than twist God’s word to harmonize with our limited understanding)?

I’m comfortable in declaring publicly that I’m utterly stupid,
and God is perfect in every way.

But what I’m not comfortable with, (and what I’ve repented from doing), is supporting concocted doctrines of extrabiblical man that twist God’s word to make it fit into our puny understanding of things.

So allow me please to now give you some scriptural backing that disproves calvinism.

One of the thoughts that originally led me to temporarily embrace calvinism was the thought: “How could Jesus have died for everyone’s sins? If He died for literally everyone’s sins, then why are the people who were already in hell when Jesus was crucified, still being punished for their sins?”

But my lack of understanding doesn’t override scripture.

Scripture plainly teaches that even though people justly remain condemned in hell for their sins… Jesus died for all, brought salvation for all, and praise God, I believe Him.

God gave me this scripture when I wrestled to understand this situation:

Proverbs 3.5-6
5 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

So here’s plain scripture that unravels calvinism…

[Jesus Christ died for all]

Romans 5.18

“Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.”

1 Timothy 2.3-6

3 “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.”

1 Timothy 4.10

“For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.”

Titus 2.11

“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,”

Hebrews 2.9

“But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.”

[Man’s will is definitely involved in his response to God’s call]

Proverbs 1.24-26

24 “Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;”

Matthew 23.37

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!”

John 5.39-40

39 “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.”

Acts 7.51

“Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.”

2 Corinthians 5.19-20

19 “To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.”

[Calvinists promote God’s “sovereignty” in everything, (the word “sovereign” isn’t even in the bible).

God is in charge, but He’s not the author of man’s sins.

To say that God is the author of man’s sins is blasphemy against God].

Isaiah 26.21

“For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.”

{Why would God punish people for their sins, if He caused them to commit those sins?}

Jeremiah 19.5

“They have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my mind:”

Jeremiah 32.35

“And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.”

{Scripture clearly teaches us that those sins never even came into God’s mind. But yet calvinists claim that God is responsible for man’s sins.}

So now can you see how foolish it is to follow extrabiblical man and his concocted systematic theologies?
It’s stupid isn’t it?

Join me in believing scripture, (even when we don’t understand it all), and just say no to all of religion’s “isms.”

May God continue to bless His children with discernment.

And all glory to the risen Lord Jesus Christ, and no glory to us whatsoever.
