Think about the information in this post please the next time you encounter someone bragging on their self. [Which bragging is especially evil if the braggart claims to be a Christian]. We all have to constantly be on guard against this sin that tempts all of us.

You see, none of us are “basically good people.” Every one of us without exception deserve to suffer God’s wrath in hell.

Read on please:

John 3

18 “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.”

Romans 3

9 “What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;

10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.”

Think about the fact that Jesus was humiliated and brutally killed because that’s what every one of us deserve.
His suffering & death was literally in the stead of God’s elect.

So then where is there any room for sinful man to brag on oneself?

There isn’t.

Such braggarts are only storing up wrath against themselves for the day of judgment.

Proverbs 16.5

“Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.”

So don’t think it’s okay to brag on yourself because you see some “Christian” bragging on their self.

Don’t be like them.

You do what’s right, make yourself of no reputation, and exalt only the risen Lord Jesus Christ.

Colossians 3.17

“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”

All glory to the risen Lord Jesus Christ, and no glory to us whatsoever.
