(A post that’s useful for both Christians & lost sinners)
there’s a common scenario where Christians such as myself will present the great news of the gospel…while few people actually embrace it.
Which makes me feel like yelling… “the finished redemptive work of Christ is magnificent! You don’t have to remain guilty in your sins & go to hell, because you too can be the righteousness of God as a free gift from God! Take it like I did! Jump all over it! What are you waiting on?!”
So why do so many people ignore this vital message?
The answer is found in John 3.18-21:
18 “He that believeth on him is not
condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not
believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light
is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their
deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the
light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the
light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.”
The reason why people ignore the true gospel, is because people don’t like admitting that they’re guilty sinners who are rightly under God’s wrath.
Sure, they’ll admit that they’re “not perfect” & that they “sin,” and they’ll even claim “Jesus,” (so long as their good reputation isn’t compromised)…But when they’re presented with the truth that they need to be saved because they’re guilty sinners who are rightly going to hell…they’ll walk away from the gospel, (and ironically walk themselves
right into hell). They choose hell for themselves by their prideful & deliberate ignoring of the one truth that can save them.
You see, many people claim to be a “Christian,”
but claiming to be a “Christian” doesn’t prove anything. Because anyone can claim anything. Just as anyone can claim something like “Jesus is my Lord and Saviour.” But just saying a phrase doesn’t prove anything, because words are
meaningless if they’re void of substance. (You could even train a parrot to say that phrase).
Therefore I ask you to please consider
what Proverbs 16.6 means:
“By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.”
There is no purging of anyone’s iniquity if
his or her approach to God is based in lies. To have one’s iniquity purged, one has to be truthful. And the truth is, we are all wholly guilty before God in our natural state.
So I ask the person who is unsaved…
Won’t you please accept the fact that you’re a guilty sinner who’s rightly under God’s wrath? And won’t you please cry out to the risen Lord Jesus Christ for His mercy & salvation?
Be the righteousness of God as a free gift from God, (just as myself and countless others have received from God).
You don’t have to carry your sin guilt around anymore, and you don’t have to go to hell
All glory to the risen Lord Jesus Christ, and no glory to us whatsoever.
