Hi, and good mornin to you my friend. Thank you for sharing some of your valuable time with me.

Have you ever heard a preacher make the claim that:

1. Jesus could return at any moment now, (because all of the prophesies have been fulfilled that must precede His return)?

Or

2. That there will be a pre tribulation rapture of the church?

(Bear in mind please, that the great tribulation to come, is not the same event as God’s wrath, which will be poured out at the end of the world).

Well I don’t have all of the answers to everything, but I intend to show you from scripture (as I understand scripture) that both of those teachings are in error. So let’s get right to the subject shall we?

{First, I want to biblically disprove the false teaching that God’s children won’t suffer tribulation. That is a dangerous false teaching, because it leaves the Christian unprepared for the test that awaits us. I could cite many examples from scripture where God’s children suffered cruel persecution, (John the Baptist or Stephen for example). But here in this article, I point you to the ones who were sawn in half}.

Hebrews 11.36,37

And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:

37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;

{Next, we see the rapture described in 1 Thessalonians}.

 1 Thessalonians 4.13-18

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

{And next in 2 Thessalonians, we see that Christ won’t return until after the antichrist sits in the temple of God, declaring himself to be God, (which hasn’t happened yet).

Jerusalem doesn’t even currently have a rebuilt temple, (the previous two temples were destroyed}.

 2 Thessalonians 2.1-4

Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

{And that situation where the antichrist sits in the temple of God claiming that he is God is described below as the “abomination of desolation.”
And also notice please, that Jesus tells us that the “elect” (Christians) are going to go through the tribulation, and then He will return afterward}.

 Mark 13.14-27

But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:

15 And let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house, neither enter therein, to take any thing out of his house:

16 And let him that is in the field not turn back again for to take up his garment.

17 But woe to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

18 And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter.

19 For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.

20 And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect’s sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.

21 And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not:

22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

23 But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.

24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,

25 And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.

26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.

27 And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.

At the conclusion of this article someone may be thinking, “If sinners aren’t convinced that Jesus could return at any second now, then what do they have to fear regarding God’s judgement?” Well what they have to fear is, they could die at any second, (sealing their damnation), and they will face God’s judgement, (Revelation 20.11-14).

Or someone might be thinking “What about Christians? If they don’t think that Jesus is about to return at any second, won’t they run wild with sin?” Again, the answer is simple. God lives inside of us Christians, (1 Corinthians 3.16), He is always seeing what we do, (Proverbs 5.21), and the ministration of the indwelling Spirit of God guides our lives, (2 Corinthians chapter 3). Moreover, we will all have to give an account of our lives to God when we die, (Romans 14.12). Therefore, all of the necessary-motivators for our proper behavior are already there.

Well now that this little article has come to an end, I hope that you were blessed by what you read here.

May God bless us all with ongoing enlightenment.

All glory to the risen Lord Jesus Christ Who loves us, and no glory to us whatsoever.
